We will be celebrating the birthday of Johnny Appleseed.  We will be working on apple activities all week.

The Kindergarten Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October 11th.  Each student is asked to bring in $3 to help pay for supplies for the day.  Please send the money in an envelope with your child’s name, teacher, and FALL FESTIVAL labeled on it.  The Fall Festival is being planned and parents need to money to buy supplies so please send the money to school as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Thursday, September 27th there will be a meeting for any parents or grandparents interested in helping at the Fall Festival.  The meeting will be held at the pavilion behind North Schuylkill Elementary at 6:00.

As the weather starts to get cooler please send your child to school with a coat.  We go outside for recess everyday (unless it’s raining) and some students have been complaining that they are cold on cooler days.  Also, please write your child’s name in their coat.  Many Kindergarten students are having a hard time keeping track of their coats.

The School Store will open next week.  Kindergarteners may only shop on Mondays.  Students do NOT come to the classroom before shopping so it’s important that you explain to your child where their money is and that they need to stop before coming to our room.

There are still a few students who do not know their 4 digit ID number.  It is very hard to go through the lunch line, log on the computers, and check books out of the Library when they don’t know their numbers.  The number is on the front of their folder under their name.

Book orders are due Friday, October 5.

There is a change for lunch this week.  On Wednesday, we will have toasted cheese and tomato soup.  On Friday, we will have pierogie casserole--lasagna noodles, potatoes and cheese--NOT pierogies.

This week, we’ll read “Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten.”  We will be discussing people in communities.  Students will be learning about classifying and categorizing.  Please review your “Family Times” when it comes home on Monday for more details

In Math we will practice patterns and also sorting items by color.  Students will continue to practice numbers and will even count to 100 by 1’s.

Some students are having a very hard time cutting.  Please save the coupons from the newspaper and have students practice cutting on the dotted line.

Please have your child practice zippers and buttons!
