October 31-November 2
There is NO homework this week.
Next Thursday (November 8), we will have Mm Show and Tell AND the phonics list #2 test.
Due to the storm the Halloween parade and party has been moved to Friday, November 2nd. Students
are invited to bring their costume to school in a bag marked with their
name. They will change into their costume before the parade with the
help of teachers and homeroom parents. Please keep in mind that we have
21 students to get dressed in a short amount of time so please keep the
costumes simple (no spraying hair, full face makeup, etc.) Family and
Friends are invited to come see our Halloween Parade at 2:00 on Friday.
The parade will take place in the bus loop in front of the school.
The nurse’s office is in need of shirts, pants, socks, and sneakers. If
you have any of these items and would like to donate them to the nurses
office please send them to school in a bag marked “Nurse’s Office
Donation.” Also, if your child borrowed clothes from the nurse, please
be sure to wash and return them as soon as possible! If you would
rather that your child wear their own clothes if they have an accident
then please send in a spare set of clothes for them to keep in the
locker.
If you haven’t sent in your child’s party money ($5) yet please do so as
soon as possible. This money will pay for the Halloween and
Valentine’s Day parties.
In Math we will continue to work with shapes and the numbers 0-10.
In Phonics, we’ll learn about the letter Mm as in monkey,
money, and movie! Word List #2 is home. Please continue
to practice the Word Lists at home! I am very proud of how hard some of
the students studied the first list!
Picture retakes will be taken on November 5th. If you need re-take information please let me know.
Kindergarteners did a great job this morning at the School Walk for Diabetes at Spartan Stadium.
There is no school for students on Friday, November 9.

*Mr. Ray Reichwein for donating his wagon and tractor for our hayride.
*Boyer’s grocery stores for donating cookies.
*Home Depot for donating scarecrows and other fall items for the fall scene picture station.

Thursday, October 4th, there will be a meeting for any parents or grandparents interested in helping at the Fall Festival. The meeting will be held at the pavilion behind North Schuylkill Elementary at 6:00. If it’s raining the meeting will be held in Miss Smith’s classroom (please enter through the playground door.)
As the weather starts to get cooler please send your child to school with a coat. We go outside for recess everyday (unless it’s raining) and some students have been complaining that they are cold on cooler days. Also, please write your child’s name in their coat. Many Kindergarten students are having a hard time keeping track of their coats.
The School Store is now open. Kindergarteners may only shop on Mondays. Students do NOT come to the classroom before shopping so it’s important that you explain to your child where their money is and that they need to stop before coming to our room.
There are still a few students who do not know their 4 digit ID number. It is very hard to go through the lunch line, log on the computers, and check books out of the Library when they don’t know their numbers. The number is on the front of their folder under their name.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in an effort to promote awareness students are invited to wear pink every Thursday during the month of October! Please note that students are allowed to wear Spartan t-shirts, even though it’s not gym day, as long as they are pink!
There is no school for students on Monday, October 8th!
