January 29- February 1
The 100th day of school is now Friday, February 1st.

In Phonics we will be learning about the consonant “Cc” as in cat, cupcake, and Clifford!
The rule for the /k/ sound is: Use Kk when the /k/sound is followed by the letters e, i, or y and use Cc when the /k/ sound is followed but the letters a, o, u or any consonant. Word List 10 came home today and will be tested Friday, February 1st. Show and Tell for the letter Cc will be on Friday, February 1st.

In Reading, we’ll read “Hide Clyde.” Clyde is a chameleon that doesn't know how to hide. While his siblings effortlessly match whatever they happen to be sitting on, he stands out like a sore thumb. Luckily for him, his bug-catching skills are great. A bigger-than-usual bug flies off with him, dumping him in a house -- which Clyde makes the best of, finally mastering his hiding skills before getting a ride back to the jungle. We will be discussing changing for protection. Students will learn about main ideas. Please be sure to review your Family Times when it comes home next week.
In Math we’ll practice number identification (0-20.) Students will practice using dimes to pay for an
item (up to $1.00.) They will also learn about length and order objects shortest to longest.
Congratulations to everyone who completed their United States report! The students who presented did
a great job and were very well prepared! Thank you to all of the parents that helped their children prepare for the presentation.
Report Cards were sent home on Wednesday, January 23rd. Please sign and return them as soon as possible.
The 100th day of Kindergarten is quickly approaching! 100th Day Homework assignments were sent home this week. If your child misplaced theirs please let me know. The homework needs to be completed and return to school before the 100th day (February 1st.)
We have been trying to take Kindergarten students outside for recess whenever we can. Please make
sure that your child is dressed properly.

In gym, children are working on tumbling skills.  At the end of this unit, children are expected to be able to tie their shoes.  Please start practicing this with them.
