November 23-25
There will be no homework this week.

This week we will continue our Thanksgiving Theme and will celebrate our own Kindergarten Thanksgiving by watching Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving with our 4^th grade, reading buddies.  

·     A letter to Santa was sent  home for you to complete with your child.  Please return this letter by Tuesday, December 1st.  A postman will be visiting sometime early in December to pick up the letters at school and take them directly to Santa at the North Pole!  We will address the letters in school.

Wednesday, November 25^th will be an early dismissal @ 1:00pm and will be our last day of school before the holiday break.  There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, Friday, and Monday, November 26-30.  School reopens on Tuesday, December 1st<sup>.

Be thankful for these wonderful gifts that you have.  They are all unique in a special way.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with them.</sup>

In Reading we will read the story A Bed for the Winter by Karen Wallace.  It will be an informational text. We will discuss Fiction and Non-Fiction, winter homes, and work on the comprehension skill, sequence.  We will be working on the short /i/ sound as in inch, igloo, and Indian.

For Math we will finish Topic 2:  Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-5.  Take some time to practice number writing and counting sets, and be sure to review daily practice pages.

Friday- Field trip

This week we will read the story Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman in Reading.  We will be discussing hibernation and will learn to differentiate between real and make believe.

In Math we will continue working with Topic 2, Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-5.  Take some time to review the daily practice pages and try to practice these skills at home with your child.  Also practice counting by 1’s to 100.

Jeans for Troops Day is Thursday.  $1.00 donation.
Wear Jeans for Lyla is Friday.  $1.00 donation.

The Kindergarten Field Trip is scheduled for Friday, November 13^th to the Pearl Movie Theatre to see “The Peanuts Movie”.  Students need to wear their NSE T-shirt.  Students will receive a McDonald’s Happy Meal during the movie.  Students do not need any money and the field trip will be held during regular school hours, No money is needed.

There is no school for students on Monday, November 9 due to parent/teacher conferences.

In Reading we will read the book Animal Babies in Grasslands by Jennifer Schofield.  We will be talking about grassland animals, review the letter Pp and the /p/ sound, and practice the comprehension skill main idea.

For Math we will work with Topic 2:  Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-5.  Take some time to practice number writing and counting sets, and be sure to review daily practice pages.  Also review the words/concepts more, fewer, and same as.

Daylight Savings Time ended on Sunday, November 1^st. As the student handbook states, once the clocks change, students are NO longer able to wear shorts to school.  When the clocks move forward in spring then students can begin wearing shorts (weather permitting) to school again.
