 May 18-May 29
May 20 -Kindergarten will practice for graduation on Friday, May 20th in the afternoon at the High School.  Please try to have your child at school for this practice so he/she will know what to do for the evening ceremony on Tuesday. Students may be walking to the high school, so please dress your child in shoes for walking.

May 23, and 24-- Walking to HS to practice for graduation in the morning.

Kindergarten Graduation will be held in the High School Auditorium beginning at 6:00pm.   Students should arrive at  the HS gymnasium around 5:15.   The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 PM, so be sure not to be late and allow time for parking!  Tickets and more detailed information were sent sent home this week in your child’s folder.
Remember students will be wearing caps and gowns and will NEED to wear a WHITE-COLLARED shirt for the evening performance (NOT to school during the day).  Shoes will be visible so plan accordingly.  Girls should not wear hair accessories that will get in the way of the cap. 

PLEASE NOTE:  Graduation caps and gowns must be returned to the teacher after the graduation ceremony.  Tassels are to be taken home as a keepsake.


May 27--NSE  Carnival--Students may wear gym clothes and sneakers.  Please remember sunscreen!

May 30- Memorial Day-- No School

June 2-Early dismissal at 11:45.  Please remember to bring book bags to school.

For Reading we will continue with Unit 6:  Building Our Homes.  The next story will be titled, “Old MacDonald had a Woodshop”.  We will be talking about what tools you need to build things.  We will review the short vowel sounds and review “characters”.   This will also be our last week with HOMEWORK!

            For Math we will finish with Topic 13, Sorting, Classifying, Counting, and Categorizing Data.  Students will need to tell how things are different, how they are alike, and to sort things into different groups.  Take some time and review the daily work mats.

     NSE will be having a Scholastic Book Fair from Mon, May 9-Friday, May 13.  Students will be able to shop at school and there will also be a Parent Shopping Night on Monday, May 9th from 4-7 pm.  **Our class also will have time to shop in school during our scheduled Library class on Friday, May 13th.  Please note that due to a change in PA state laws we will now need to charge tax on all book fair sales, be sure to send in extra for tax!!
Please note that Friday, May 6th was the last day the NSE library was open for students to borrow books.  All library are due ASAP.

Friday- Wedding of Q and U

For Reading we will begin Unit 6:  Building Our Homes.  The first story will be titled, “Building with Dad”.  We will be talking about how a school is built.  We will review the short vowel sounds and will finish our work with the sounds /y/ and /kw/ for the letters Y and Q. On Wednesday, 5/4, the girls will finally get to be Queens for a Day!

The monthly PTO meeting for May will be held on Monday night, 5/2 @ 6:30.  All are invited and encouraged to attend. 

NSE will be having a Scholastic Book Fair from Mon, May 9-Friday, May 13.  Students will be able to shop at school and there will also be a Parent Shopping Night on Monday, May 9th from 4-7 pm.  Please note that Friday, May 6th will be the last day the NSE library will be open for students to borrow books.  All library books will need to be returned on our next exchange day Friday, May 13thOur Accelerated Reader “Book Buddy” program will END on Friday May 13th.  May recording sheets will be sent home in your child’s folder, but book bags and books will no longer be sent home.  Boys and girls can continue to read at home and titles can be recorded.  May recording sheets will be due back by 5/13.  The goal for May will be 8+ books.
