April 30-May 4
Please practice tying shoelaces.

For Reading we will begin Unit 6:  Building Our Homes.  The first story will be titled, “Building with Dad”.  We will be talking about how a school is built.

In Math, we will finish with Topic 11 Decomposing Numbers 11 to 19 and will begin Topic 12 Measurement. We will be comparing objects by length, height, capacity, and weight.  Please review daily practice pages!

The Book Fair is scheduled for May 7-11. Parents night to shop is Monday, May 7 from 4-7 pm.

School PHYSICALS will be held in the nurse’s office on Monday, April 30th!  Students who received a white form from the nurse are to return the forms ASAP.

DIBELS testing for the end-of-the-year will begin soon.  Please review comparing sets and numbers, identify numbers 0-100, and naming the next number after a given number, letter naming, segmenting, and nonsense words.  The time for each is 1 minute!

Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd at 1:00 pm in the NS High School Auditorium.  Specific details about parking, seating, etc. will be sent home closer to the date.  Due to limited seating, each Kindergarten student will be limited to 5 tickets.  If a small child (non-school age) is going to sit on an adult’s lap, they will not need a ticket.  Your Kindergarten child is not part of the count.  No one will be admitted to Graduation without a ticket.  Graduation tickets will be sent home closer to Graduation.  If tickets are misplaced, we will not be able to replace them.

April 23-27

We will read our last Reading story in Unit 5. It is This is the Way We Go to School. It is a fiction story about children around the world.  The comprehension skill we will focus on with this story is drawing conclusions.

In Math, we will begin Topic 10.  Topic 10 will take composing numbers further from 11-19. Continue to practice with addition and subtraction too! 

PBIS reward for April is playing in Bounce Houses.  Our class's day for the Bounce House is Friday, April 27.  Please wear gym clothes and socks.

Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 26th.  (There will be NO make-up picture day.)  Envelopes will be sent home with portrait package information next week.  If interested in purchasing pictures then please return the money BEFORE Wednesday, April 19th in your child’s folder.  (Cash or checks made payable to PSP.)  All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown.  Girls should not have ponytails high on their heads or wear big hair accessories since they will be wearing a graduation cap.

April 16-20
           For Reading we will begin the story The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper.  It is a classic fantasy story, and we will be talking about how trains move.  We will be learning about the comprehension skill, plot.  

           In Math, we will begin Topic 10.  Topic 10 will take composing numbers further from 11-19. Continue to practice with addition and subtraction too!  


   Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 26th.  (There will be NO make-up picture day.)  Envelopes will be sent home with portrait package information next week.  If interested in purchasing pictures then please return the money BEFORE Wednesday, April 25th in your child’s folder.  (Cash or checks made payable to PSP.)  All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown.  Girls should not have ponytails high on their heads or wear big hair accessories since they will be wearing a graduation cap.

April 9-13
For Reading we will continue with the next story in Unit 5 Trucks Roll!  It is a non-fiction, rhyming story and we will be talking about forms of transportation.  The comprehension skill we will focus on with this story is compare and contrast.

In Math, we will continue with Topic 9: Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10. Students will learn different ways to make 4 through 10 and write number sentences to show these different ways.  Review daily work mats and continue to practice addition and subtraction.

Thank you to ALL who generously donated to our class’ Chinese Auction basket/bin for the PTO Spring Fling Auction coming up on April 14-15.  Our "Ice Cream Sundae" theme is turned out GREAT! Be sure to take a chance or more on winning it!  Remember, the Kindergarten class with the most tickets gets an Ice Cream Party!!

 NSE PTO is selling yearbooks.  The cost of the yearbook is $21.  Order forms and payment are due no later than Monday, April 16th.  Cash, checks and money orders are accepted, made payable to NSE PTO.
