May 28-June 4
Students are to continue to bring their folders and backpacks daily -- including the last day of school.  Be sure to check backpacks and folders often and empty as needed.

****BOOK BAGS ARE NOT NEEDED ON TUESDAY, MAY 22**Book bags ARE needed everyday other than May 22.

Kindergarten will practice for graduation on Tuesday morning at the High School.  Please try to have your child at school for this practice so he/she will know what to do for the ceremony. Students may be walking to the high school, so please dress your child in shoes for walking.

Tuesday, May 28 is the big day!  Kindergarten Graduation will be held in the High School Auditorium beginning at 1:00 pm.   Doors will open at 12:45. The ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00 PM, so be sure not to be late and allow time for parking! Tickets were sent home on Friday.Remember students will be wearing caps and gowns. Shoes will be visible so plan accordingly.  Girls should not wear hair accessories that will get in the way of the cap.PLEASE NOTE:  Graduation caps, gowns, and TASSELS must be returned to the teacher after the graduation ceremony when signing out your child.  Tassels are NOT to be taken home.

Friday, May 31 will be the PTO Carnival/Fun Day. This is a day of fun and games put together by the PTO.  Please dress your child for the weather and apply sunscreen as needed. Students should wear sneakers and clothing for outdoor activities.  (No dresses or skirts please—gym attire preferred!)

Tuesday, June 4th will be the last day of school.  Students will receive report cards on the last day.  All library books will need to be returned or paid for and all lunch accounts are to be balanced ASAP. There will be a noon dismissal on June 4th.

May 20-24
In math,  we will be identifying coins; penny, nickel, dime, and quarter by name and talk about earning income, and understanding the difference between spending and saving.

In reading, we will read "The House That Tony Lives In".  We will discuss setting and informational text.

Thursday and Friday, May 23-24, we will be walking over to the high school to practice for graduation.  Please wear comfortable shoes.

ALL library books should be returned as soon as possible.

Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 28th at 1:00 pm in the NS High School Auditorium.  Tickets will be sent home in their Sparty folder on Friday, May 24.  Due to limited seating, each Kindergarten student will be limited to 5 tickets.  If a small child (non-school age) is going to sit on an adult’s lap, they will not need a ticket.  Your Kindergarten child is not part of the count.  No one will be admitted to Graduation without a ticket.  Graduation tickets will be sent home closer to Graduation.  If tickets are misplaced, we will not be able to replace them.

May 13-17
In reading, we will begin Alistar and Kip"s Great Adventure.  We will discuss plot and discuss short Uu sounds like in up, and umbrella.

The Book Fair will be held May 13-17.Our shopping day is Thursday, May 16.  The Book Fair is opened to the public from 4-7 on Monday, May 13.

May 6-10
For Reading we will continue Unit 6 with the story Building Beavers.  We will discuss Main Idea and review the short vowels.

In Math, we will continue our unit on Time, Data, and Measurement We have been working on telling time to the hour on a digital clock and an analog clock.
