For Reading we will begin Unit 4: Let’s Go Exploring.  The first story is Rooster’s Off to See the World by Eric Carle.  It is an animal fantasy and we will be reviewing the comprehension skill, sequence. 

In math, we will continue working on comparing numbers from 0-20.

February recording sheets for our AR “Book Buddy” bags will be sent home on Monday, 2/3.  Any student who reads and records 15 or more books will receive a Pizza Hut reward coupon.  Happy Reading!!

Hip, Hip, Hooray! Our 100th day is just several school days away!!!  On Thursday, January 30th, students are asked to dress as if they were 100 years old! (Please note that if school is cancelled, the 100th day will be moved to the next school day.) The 100 day project can come in anytime this coming week.

February recording sheets for our AR “Book Buddy” bags will be sent home on Friday, 1/31.  The goal for the month is 15+ books.  January Pizza Hut reward coupons will be enclosed in your child’s folder too. 

Report cards will be sent home today, Friday, January 24.  Please sign and return the envelope.  The report cards are for you to keep.

For Reading this week we will read the story, The Lion and the Mouse. We will introduce the comprehension skill, main idea.

In math, we will continue working on comparing numbers from 0-20.

We will be starting the next story Farfallina and Marcel for Reading.  In this book we will talk about the comprehension strategy “plot” and how friendships are formed and can change.

In math, we will compare numbers from 0-20.  This can be done by adding one more or one fewer.
 
A sight word test will be given on Friday, January 10.

January Scholastic book orders are due by Friday, January 17 for anyone interested in ordering this month.
