Students will be dismissed at 1:00 on Wednesday, November 21st! Lunch that day will be Breaded Chicken Rings or Meatball Sub. School will be closed Thursday, November 22nd until Monday, November 26th for Thanksgiving vacation!
After Thanksgiving, we will be studying the consonant Ss as in sun, smile, and sing! Everyone is doing a GREAT job on the word lists! I am SO proud! I can tell that everyone is practicing very hard at home! Please practice Phonics Word List 4. It will be tested Friday, November 30th.
In Reading, we’ll read “A Bed for the Winter” after Thanksgiving. This book is the story of a little dormouse and his frantic search for a safe place to hibernate. We’ll be learning about sequence and we’ll also discuss winter homes. We’ll add 2 new sight words to our list: he, for.
In Math, we will learn about mass by comparing weights of objects. After Thanksgiving, students will be introduced to Geoboards. We’ll also continue to practice AB and ABB patterns.
This week we will continue to talk about Thanksgiving and complete lots of fun activities! We will make Native American necklaces, vests, and headdresses. Students will get to make and sample butter and cornbread! We’ll also be watching “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” with our reading buddies.
There will be NO HOMEWORK this week! Enjoy!
On Monday, we had our monthly Guidance Lesson. This month we welcomed Mrs. Clarissa Geary into our classroom to talk about Personal Body Safety. Please be sure to ask your child what they learned from Mrs. Geary.
Thank you to everybody who sent in a non-perishable item for the Feed A Friend Project and also to everyone who donated supplies for our adopted school, Lawrence Union Free School District. Our class was very excited about the idea of helping somebody in need!
On Tuesday, November 27th, a letter to Santa will be coming home for you to complete with your child. Please return this letter by Monday, December 3RD. Our favorite local postman, Eric Hughes, will pick up our letters and take them directly to Santa at the North Pole! Students might even get a surprise letter back from the North Pole!
Family and Friends are invited to attend the Christmas Concert which will be held Monday, December 17th at 9:30 in the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium. Kindergarteners have been practicing their songs and are very excited to share them with you!
I would like to wish all my students and their families a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!  Enjoy the time off with your child and remember to be thankful for all the blessings in your life!
