April 1- 5
Practice the following:
-sight words
-writing numbers 0-20
- counting to 100
- letters and sounds

For Reading we will continue with the next story in Unit 5 Trucks Roll!  It is a non-fiction, rhyming story and we will be talking about forms of transportation.  The comprehension skill we will focus on with this story is compare and contrast.

In Math, we will begin subtraction.  Review daily practice pages and continue to practice taking away. 

Kindergarten Graduation Pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 4th.  (There will be NO make-up picture day.)   Cash or checks made payable to PSP.  All students will be photographed for the class photo and will need a WHITE COLLARED shirt to wear under a graduation gown.  Girls should not have ponytails high on their heads or wear big hair accessories since they will be wearing a graduation cap.

The PTO Spring Fling Chinese Auction will be held on April 27th and 28th.  Our class’ theme basket will be “Knoebels Fun”. Donations are due to the teacher by Friday, April 12.  If a family would rather not shop for a donation, monetary donations will be accepted and Mrs. Kaminsky will shop for items for the basket.  There is no value set and you can be creative!! Thank you in advance for your support!

March 25- 29

In Math we will begin subtraction.  Review daily practice pages and continue to practice taking away. 


For Reading we will read the story "Mayday! Mayday! A Coast Guard Rescue".  It is an informational text and we will be discussing cause and effect.  Please practice all sight words daily!!  We will discuss what kinds of transportation help us in an emergency.  

The March AR “Book Buddy” recording sheets are due on Monday, April 1st. The goal for the month is 15+ books. 

Spring pictures will be taken on Tuesday, March 26.

Please note that there is a misprint on the district event calendar.  Kindergarten Graduation will be held Tuesday, May 28th at 1:00 PM in the high school auditorium NOT on May 29th.  We apologize for the confusion!

In Math we will be continuing with addition.  Review daily practice pages and continue to practice joining sets and counting how many altogether.

March 11-15

In Reading we will read the story, Abuela, by author Arthur Dorros.  It will be the last of our “adventure” stories for Unit 4.  It will be a fiction story about a city adventure and the boys and girls will learn a few Spanish words.


In Math we will be continuing with addition.  Review daily practice pages and continue to practice joining sets and counting how many altogether. 

Kindergarten registration for the upcoming, 2019-2020 school year will be held the week of March 11- 15.  Registration is open to all residents of the NS School District.  Please pass along this information to anyone with children ready to begin Kindergarten in the fall.  Appointments should be scheduled with the office.

The I’m a Reader forms, for those who participate, should be returned to the teacher by the following Monday (March 11) with a parent’s signature and initial for each day of the week.

Friday, March 15 is a Spartan Dress Down Day for a $1 donation.

Books orders are due Friday, March 15.

Spring Pictures will be taken at NSE on Tuesday, March 26th.  ALL Children will be photographed and pictures will be available for purchase in 7-10 days.  PSP provides the school with a donation for every portrait package.  For best results do not wear green!!!  Students may dress up, but keep dress code in mind!!

In Reading we will begin an informational text titled If You Could Go to Antarctica, by author Fay Robinson.  We will practice the comprehension skill, classify and categorize.
In math, we will continue addition.
February AR reading lists are due. New March lists are in your child's Sparty folder.

Newspaper in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our schools.  It will be starting on Monday, March 4th and continue through Friday, March 8th.  Check for Mrs. Kaminsky's ad in the CLASSIFIED section of the newspaper.  Ads can be sent to school during the week for treats.  The I’m a Reader forms, for those who participate, should be returned to the teacher by the following Monday (March 11) with a parent’s signature and initial for each day of the week.
