For Reading we will read the story, "My Lucky Day", by Keiko Kasza.  It is an animal fantasy (fiction) story and we will focus on the comprehension skill cause and effect.  This week we will work on the Ll letter and sound.

In Math we are working on  Topic 7: Addition.  Students will learn to join two groups and tell how many there are altogether.  They will learn how to use the plus sign and the equal sign and learn about addition sentences. 

Friday, February 27^th is NSE’s Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.  Throughout the next two weeks we will be reading some great books by Dr. Seuss and making some fun things to go along with the stories.  Some students from Bloomsburg University will visit our classroom on Friday to read the book, "The Tooth Book" and to do a follow up activity with the students. 

Newspaper in Education Week is a program sponsored by the Pottsville Republican & Herald to promote interest in the newspaper in our schools.  It will be starting on Monday, March 2^nd and continue through Friday, March 6^th.  More information concerning this will be sent home on Friday.

The theme for our class’ basket at the PTO Spring Fling Chinese Auction will be Lottery Luck.  Please see the note enclosed in your child’s folder for details.
