October 23-27
As we begin to finish our second month of school, you and your child should be practicing the following things daily:
--sight words
--orally counting from 1-100
--writing numbers from 0-20

In Reading we will begin to read the story Nature Spy.  We will be looking at what we can learn about nature when we look closely.   We will focus on learning the comprehension skill setting.

For Math we will finish Topic 16 and begin Topic 1:  One to Five.  Students will learn how to read, write, and count numbers from 1-5.  Be sure to review the daily practice pages!

Red Ribbon week is from October 23-31.  Please follow the orange October calendar for the week's activities.

Be sure your child has a jacket, mittens or gloves, and a hat for recess. We try to get outside whenever possible—if dressed properly, the fresh air does us good!!!  Also, have your child practice putting on, taking off (pulling sleeves back out), and zipping/buttoning his/her coat.

AR/Book Buddy recording sheets for October are due on Wednesday, November
1.  Any student who reaches or exceeds the goal of 15 or more books will
receive a PIZZA HUT BOOK IT coupon!

Friday, October 27th will be the school-wide Halloween parade/party. The parade will begin at 2:00 pm with the Kindergarten students and end with 6th grade.  Students will parade in front of the HOME side bleachers at the HS stadium, weather permitting.  ALL are welcome to come to see the children parade. Your child should NOT wear his/her costume to school!  Please send the costume to school in a bag with your child’s name on the outside.  Students will get dressed in costumes in the classroom.  Keep in mind students will be dressing at school, so keep the costumes as simple as possible.  Parents are welcome to come and watch the parade at the HS Stadium!! Be sure to be there early as Kindergarten will be first!!
