September 10-14
On Monday, we will begin our 2nd Reading story, We Are So Proud. We will work on recognizing the letters Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm. and Nn.  Continue to read at home, talk about story characters (who the story is about) and setting (where and when the story takes place), and read the high frequency words I and am.

Word list 1 (I, a, and, the to) will be checked during the upcoming week by Friday, 9/14 and if all words are read correctly, then Word List 2 will be tested next.  If more time is needed with list one, then List 1 words will be checked again the following week before List 2.  Continue to practice sight words daily!!

In math, we are reading, writing and counting numbers 1-5.

Boys and girls have been doing a Super Job with their AR “Book Buddy” books. Remember, any books your child and you read together at home can be recorded on the monthly reading log .

The PTO school store will open on Monday, September 12th.   Kindergarten students will be able to shop on a MONDAYS from 8:20-8:45.  Students are asked to shop ONLY on this day of the week and at this time.  Please do not put school store money in your child’s folder.  (Teachers will NOT see it until after the store closes.)  Students should keep it separate in backpacks where THEY can reach it easily for shopping BEFORE homeroom.

Parents and Guardians interested in joining the PTO should sign up and pay $5.00 as soon as possible.  There will be a PTO meeting on Monday, Sept. 11th in the cafeteria beginning at 6:30.  All are invited and encouraged to attend.  The required clearances must be on file in the office before you are allowed into the school to help as a PTO member.

Picture Day is Friday, September 14th.  Money is due at the time of pictures and SCHOOL DRESS CODE is to be followed on picture day!  ALL students will be photographed whether or not pictures are being purchased.  Kindergarten will be photographed early in the morning so be on time to school!  Also, if you DO NOT plan to purchase pictures, please send a note stating you do not want to buy pictures, so we are not looking for an order/money envelope that morning.

Thursday, September 13th will be the Fall Festival Parent meeting @ 2:00 in the NSE cafeteria.  Any parent or grandparent who would like to help with the planning is welcome and encouraged to attend.  (Keep in mind that all volunteers helping the day of the Fall Festival must have all required clearances on file in the office by Oct. 25th, as the Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 26th.) **If you would like to help, but cannot make the meeting on 9/13, then please send a note with your name and contact info. (email and phone#).
