In Reading, we’ll read Messenger, Messenger. In this story, Calvin Curbhopper leaves his studio apartment with his bike on his shoulder. By eight a.m., he's made his first delivery and embarked on a crazy routine of carrying urgent business packages through traffic, tunnels, parking lots and dangerous neighborhoods. He doesn't slow down until after nightfall, when he rides home. We will discuss transportation jobs. Students will learn about comparing and contrasting. Please be sure to review your Family Times when it comes home this week.

In Phonics, we will finish learning about long vowels. The rule for long vowels is if the vowel is followed by anything other than a consonant then it is long (we code it with a macron.) Students will also learn about the digraph ck like at the end of duck.

In math we will be finishing work on Topic 11, Decomposing Numbers 11 to 19.  We will then start Topic 12, Measurement.

An Easter egg hunt will be held on Wednesday, April 16th.  The boys and girls will be looking for eggs with the word “are” printed on the outside.  Be sure to review this word with your child!

For the Field Trip:  If you are interested in chaperoning the Field Trip, please send in a note as soon as possible.  Also, please make sure that you have fulfilled your PTO requirements that are necessary to be a chaperone for a Field Trip.
