In Reading, we’ll read Mayday, Mayday!: A Coast Guard Rescue! In this book the United States Coast Guard leaps into action when they hear a call for help. A team of four highly trained rescue specialists head out in an H-60 Jayhawk helicopter. Battling fierce conditions, the Coast Guard team finally locates the disabled boat, rescues the crew, treats injured passengers, and carries them back to safety. We will be discussing emergency transportation. Students will learn about cause and effect. Please be sure to review your Family Times when it comes home this week.\

In Phonics, we will finish learning about the letter Q and begin long vowels. The rule for long vowels is if the vowel is followed by anything other than a consonant then it is long (we code it with a macron.) On Friday, April 5th students are formally invited to attend the wedding of Q and U! Invitations were sent!

·       In Math, we will begin Topic 10: Composing Numbers 11-19.  Review daily work mats and continue to practice addition, subtraction, and different ways to make numbers from 6-10.
