  We will be starting our 5^th story for Reading, Smash! Crash!  Watch for your Family Times newsletter to come home on Monday.  Our focus will be on the story’s character.  We will be working with the consonant letter Mm and the beginning and final sound /m/ in words.  Continue to read at home and practice the high frequency words; I, am, the, to, a, name, out, can, love, and little; practice rhyming and counting syllables in words and identifying the letters from Aa-Zz.

For Math we will finish up with Topic 16; Analyzing, Comparing, and Composing Shapes.  Review the 2 and 3 dimensional shapes circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon, cube, cylinder, cone, and sphere.   Continue to review the daily math practice pages as well.

Hearing screens are scheduled for Tuesday, September 30^th for grades K-3.  Discuss with your child the importance of being quiet while the testers are working with each student!

 

 Mark your calendar; Picture retakes will be held at NSE on Thursday, October 23^rd.  Anyone who may have been absent on Picture Day in September is asked to be photographed on re-take day.  Also anyone NOT happy with photos or had a problem may call PSP to get a correction or your child may return the photos and be photographed again on retake day.

  FYI:  The last Fall Festival planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 30^th @ 6:30pm at the Mineshaft in Ashland.  **The Kindergarten Fall Festival will be held at the school on Thursday, October 9^th.  Parent and grandparent volunteers who have the necessary clearances are welcome and needed to help with this fun-filled day!  **Anyone who has not yet sent in $4.00 for Fall Festival is asked to do so before 09/30/2014.
