This week we will be reviewing letter Aa and its two sounds, short /a/ as in cat and long /a/ as in acorn.

In Reading we will begin the story "Flowers".

For Math we will be finishing up with Topic 1, so review counting sets/objects to 5, comparing sets, writing and reading numbers to 5.   Topic 2 will continue with comparing and ordering 0-5.  We will compare using more, fewer, and same as and learn ordinal numbers through fifth.  

We are currently collecting money for the scheduled classroom parties.   Please send in $5.00 in an envelope with your child’s name and classroom and mark “Party Money” on the outside of the envelope, if you have not already done so. Thank you!!

Diane Rowland, will visit with our class on Wednesday, October 22 for our monthly guidance lesson.  She will be speaking with the children about Drugs and Alcohol in preparation for the annual Red Ribbon Week, which will be held the last week of October.  Take some time to ask your child what he/she learned and/or discussed at school that day!!

NSE picture re-take/make-up day will be held on Thursday, October 23^rd.  Please make sure if your child is having picture retakes to send his/her first package of pictures with him/her that day.  Questions regarding picture packages, contact PSP at 1-800-248-6394.

Friday, October 31^st will be our classroom Halloween parade and party from 1:30-3:00.  Homeroom helpers, who are PTO members and have clearances on file in the office, will be permitted to go to the classroom @ 1:30.  The parade will begin at 2:00pm.  Students will parade in the upper bus loop.  ALL are welcome to come to see the children parade.  Parties will end by 3:00 pm.  Your child should NOT wear his/her costume to school!  Please send the costume to school in a bag with your child’s name on the outside.  Students will get dressed in costumes with the help of teachers and homeroom helpers.  Keep in mind students will be dressing at school, so keep the costumes as simple as possible.  (No spraying hair at school, or a face full of make-up at school)

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Monday, November 10^th from 12:00-6:00.  Please be sure to return conference forms AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so a schedule can be made.
