November 4-8
As we finish our second month of school, you and your child should be practicing the following things daily:
--sight words (tested every Friday)
--orally counting from 1-100
--writing numbers from 0-20

In Reading we will begin the new story A Bed for the Winter by Karen Wallace.  It will be an informational text.  We will discuss Fiction and Non-Fiction, winter homes, and work on the comprehension skill, sequence.

In math, we will finish our unit on numbers 0-10.

We will begin preparing for “Thanksgiving”.  During the next three weeks, students will learn about the first Thanksgiving, will make pilgrim and Native American/Indian costumes, and will begin to learn a poem or song for the holiday.  We will make a Thanksgiving bracelet and will also discuss being “thankful”.  The students will even get to use a Native American name for a day!

Report cards will be sent home on Friday, November 8 in your child's SPARTY folder. You may keep the report card, just please sign and return the brown envelope.

There is no school for students on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day.
